Experience
I have a deep enthusiasm for learning and helping students overcome personal challenges. I spent many years as a social worker, earning my undergraduate degree in Psychosocial Studies from the University of East London. I received my master's degree in International Social Work and Community Development Studies from the same university. Although I am originally from Southern California, I visited London at seventeen years old to train for church leadership, and absolutely fell in love with the city. I lived there for the next decade, working as a teacher and social worker. I was a teacher at an alternative school for high-risk young people, and also worked as a counselor for a drop-in service for schools in London. I then worked as a development coordinator for international development organizations, giving me the opportunity to travel to Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone to see the impact my work had. Once I was back in the United States, I worked as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate to support abused and neglected children and also served as a social worker with Arapahoe County Human Services. I have been part of the support system for children for years, and I look forward to tutoring students in reading, writing, study skills, social studies and sciences, English, and test preparation.
