EducationDalton State College - Bachelor in Arts, English
ExperienceI am a recent graduate from Dalton State College where I received a bachelor's degree in English. While in college, I spent nearly a year tutoring students in a variety of subjects. My career goal is to become a university professor. Part of working in academia is being able to inspire students, encouraging them to learn more while thinking critically when confronted with an obstacle as well as giving them the tools needed to work independently. As a teacher, I believe that it is important for students to deconstruct difficult concepts, transforming them into simple, more manageable steps. As someone who is originally from South Africa, I am bilingual. I speak both Afrikaans and English. My background, combined with my education, gives me a deeper insight into the troubles English language learners might face. However, through enough practice and dedication, anyone is able to master the English language.I believe that education is a powerful tool, capable of helping one achieve success in his or her life. I have never studied a subject that didn't give me some form of practical knowledge. Because of this, I believe that there is no greater feeling than watching a student overcome their educational struggles.
HobbiesI enjoy hiking, exploring Denver, reading, and hanging out with my cat.
